Your Classroom Blog

For this week focus on designing your classroom blog as professionally as possible. Keep in mind your students and grade. Load information, websites, video(s), documents, etc... that would be educationally useful for students in the grade you will be doing your field work in. Use this strategy if it helps:

• Role-Teacher


• Audience-Students (grade you will be doing field in)


• Format-Blog


• Topic-Classroom curriculum (social studies, science, core, etc...)

The only 3 items you should keep on your classroom blog for now: A welcome, Halloween web page link, and Professional Development Profile (if you did one on the blog).

Find a You Tube video you would use in the classroom. Keep in mind the grade. Your subject should either be Social Studies or Literature. Write a description and what you want students to do with the video.

Class 9-17-08 Comments

Before next class do the following:
1) Post a comment to two (2) classmates on their blog about the Halloween Web page they created. When you receive a comment respond back to at least one of them.



2)Belcw click on comment and anwer the following:
What do you think about Google Docs?
How would you use Google Docs in the classroom with your curriculum, students, and practice.

Class Tonight 9-15-08

Class goes by way too fast. By Wednesday 9-17-08 have completed the following:
1) A class calendar for the month of October. This calendar should be geared toward the grade, subject, and students you want to teach or are teaching.
It should be full of events, assignments, parent inforamtion ect... Think like a teacher what goes on during the month of October. You can use items you are working on in other classes that you will be using in the field.

2) On google docs write up information about halloween that you would want to share with elementary students. You can use pictures along with text. Here is a websites that may help: History of Halloween
You can write about the information you learned from the video, history of candy, foods,etc...



Don't stress over this assignment, have fun with it, use the website that is posted, and create a document (which we will publish) picking one area to tell about Halloween. The website has several areas you can pick from.

Pick two classmates to share your Halloween document with.

Thanks for the participation if anyone needs help with their blogging or if I'm going to fast please let me know.
By next class have the following items completed:
1. Create a New Post welcoming students to your class. What would you post/comment, what do you want students to know about you and your classroom. Also, add a picture that supports what you are posting about or a picture that represents you and/or your classroom.
2. Finish your profile, don't forget to add a picture of yourself or something you want to represent yourself.
3. View the Web 2.0 video and post a comment. Below is the post I created click on the Web 2.0 link, watch the video then post a comment. The comment is right under the Web 2.0 link.

Second day/night of Class

I thought the class discussion went well. Thanks for all those who participated. Technology is an interesting topic especially with future teachers in what you believe and think.
For my night class we will finish the discussion on Monday.
