WebQuest Final Exam Project Criteria

The final exam is a team effort. As a team you will create a WebQuest. The WebQuest will follow the guidelines from the lecture. The technology program used will be Power Point. Each team will present their WebQuest and provide the instructor a Print out of the 3Slide Handout. The final exam presentation may not be made up if missed.

On your blog (this can be completed as a post) you need to create a WebQuest section outlining what a WebQuest is, how you would have students use the webquest you created, provide 2-3 web sites where students would surf to learn more about webquests and/or look at examples of webquests, provide appropriate design. You can use the Bernie Dodge site for webquests or Tom March.

This part of the final exam is due 12-18-08.

Blog Assessment

Assessment
1. Overall design and layout is artful and enhances the readability of the information presented.
2. Blog is organized.
3. Demonstration of creating and using gadgets, posts, links, templates and use of visuals, pictures, and video to enhance the content and create interest.
4. Design for appropriate grade level.
5. All links work, websites are age specific and appropriate for content and classroom use.
6. All content is written clearly and concisely and there are no text errors in grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.
7. All content points instructor in the right direction in understanding and obtaining information on assignments.
8. The typography is easy-to-read and font size varies appropriately for headings and text.
9. Your Blog should be finalized by 12-18-08.

For both classes

Thanks for the participation if anyone needs help with their blogging or if I'm going to fast please let me know.
By next class have the following items completed:
1. Create a New Post welcoming students to your class. What would you post/comment, what do you want students to know about you and your classroom. Also, add a picture that supports what you are posting about or a picture that represents you and/or your classroom.
2. Finish your profile, don't forget to add a picture of yourself or something you want to represent yourself.
3. View the Web 2.0 video and post a comment. Below is the post I created click on the Web 2.0 link, watch the video then post a comment. The comment is right under the Web 2.0 link.

Time Line and Student Teaching Field Posts

Here is a time line for October:
1. Complete the Creative Commons Reading. Due on 10-22-08.
2. First part of class on 10-27-08 will collect completed storyboards and typed scripts.
3. Beginning of class on 10-27 and 10-29-08 we will start our movie presentations.
4. Set up digital storytelling on your blog for student learning due by 10-31-08.

Student Teaching Field Comments/Posts
While you are out in the field tell us what is going on. There will be 3 posts due (one per week) and you should comment to 2 other classmates on how/what they are doing in the field. When you comment please make sure it isn't to the same person each week.

Digital Storytelling Requirement

Select, Import, Create
1. Write out storyboard and script.
2. Select images you would like to use for your digital story.
3. Select audio you would like to use for your digital story.
4. Select content and text you would like to use for your digital story.
5.Open Photo Story 3.
6.Import images into Photo Story 3.
7. Add titles, text, and/or information to your pictures (remember in using text less is more)if needed.
8.Change the effects of the pictures.

Decide, Write, Record, Finalize
1.Use a computer microphone and record the narration of your script. To keep the “plosives” out use a sock to cover the microphone. See the tips on Using Sound Recorder to Record and Digitize Short Audio Clips. All recordings can be completed in Photo Story 3.
2.Customize the motion of the pictures.
3.Narrate your pictures.
4.Add background music from a CD, mp3, or create your own sounds from Photo Story 3.
5.Create a title and credits page. The credit page at the end of your digital story thanking all those who participated in your movie and reference appropriate material APA format.
6.Create a standard page providing the state core that supported your movie. This can be added to your credit page.
7.Finalize your digital story by saving it as a Windows Media Video (.wmv). Make sure you have been saving your file throughout the creation stage.

Demonstrate, Evaluate, Replicate
1.Show your digital story to a colleague, student or class.
2. Gather feedback about how the story could be improved, expanded, and used in your classroom.
3. Congradulate yourself on a job well done.
4. Upload the movie to yourblog see the post for setting up a section on your blog covering digital stories.

Professional Development Profile

Create your Professional Development Profile for integrating technology as a teacher.

There are three goals for this assignment:

1. To understand what your beliefs are concerning the integration of technology in your pedagogy and curriculum.

2. To question your own set of beliefs about technology, teaching, and student learning.

3. To understand technology resources used to provide effective learning opportunities for students you may be teaching in the future.

Part 1
Before reading the articles and viewing the video think about your own set of beliefs, what do you believe concerning teaching, technology, and student learning and why.
Take a moment to write about your beliefs before you start your reading/viewing.

Part 2
Reading and Video
1. Read the National Educational Technology Standards. Determine your current level of functioning relative to the NET standards.

2. Read the articles and view the videos.

3. Print off and complete the UNI survey Part I and Part II (Bring a hard copy to class on 9-3-08). Compare it to the NET standards analyzing where you fit regarding the survey and NETS.

Part 3
After you have read the NET standards, taken the survey, read the articles, viewed the videos do the following:

1. Discuss your beliefs concerning teaching, pedagogy, and student learning.

2. Reflect and synthesize the articles, videos, and web sites. What did you learn? How does it fit with your beliefs? What do you think about the students and technology?

3. Review the results of your UNI survey and NET standards. Identify your areas of strengths and weaknesses.

4. Write out both your strengths and weaknesses. Set goals for yourself to improve your weaknesses.

5. According to your goals surf the Internet for 2 workshops, tutorials, podcasts, or video that will help you improve your weaknesses and obtain your goals.

Part 4
Writing the Paper
1. APA style of writing must be used.
2. 12 point font, sansserif, appropriate titles and subtitles.
3. Double space, provide page numbers.
4. Cover page: name, title, date, course.
5. Should be 5-6 pages in length.
6. Clear identifiable goals, clear explanation of strengths/weaknesses.
7. A clear concise discussion and reflection of beliefs and reading/videos.
Note: You are welcome to add pictures in the paper to enhance your information.

For those who would like to do a Blog.
1. Use Blogger: Blogger
2. The best Page Elements to use: Link List, List, Text, Post
3. You may want to write it up in a word processor then copy/paste into the Page Elements.
4.Title and subtitles.
5. Add pictures or video to enhance the information.
6. Clear identifiable goals, clear explanation of strengths/weaknesses.
7. A clear concise discussion and reflection of beliefs and reading/videos.
